This industry standards-based certification for this new occupation is based upon a definition of “supply chain technician” developed by the National Center for Supply Chain Technology Education: A person who installs, operates, supports, upgrades or maintains the automated material handling equipment and systems which support the supply chain. Certified Technician-Supply Chain Automation (MSSC CT-SCA)

The purpose of the MSSC Certified Technician-Supply Chain Automation (CT-SCA) program is to prepare technicians who install, operate, support, upgrade, and maintain the automated material handling equipment and systems which support the supply chain.

The CT-SCA program was developed through collaboration with the National Science Foundation-funded National Center for Supply Chain Automation (NCSCA), Material Handling Industry (MHI), Material Handling Equipment Distributors Association (MHEDA), Amatrol, and NOCTI Business Solutions.

Supply chain technicians with varying levels of education and expertise as well as years on the job earn between $18 and $25 per hour. Supply chain techs with the most expertise and years on the job can make up to $48 per hour or $95,000+ annually, depending on where you live.
